Rolling Stone has unveiled its list of the 200 Greatest Country Songs of All Time, sparking both enthusiasm and debate among country music fans. The ranking celebrates the genre's rich history and diverse styles, featuring timeless classics alongside contemporary hits.

At the pinnacle of the list is Dolly Parton's "Jolene," recognized for its enduring appeal and Parton's prowess as a singer, songwriter, and storyteller. Close behind are Johnny Cash's "I Walk the Line," and Patsy Cline's "Crazy," both of which have defined country music for generations. Hank Williams' "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry" and George Jones' "He Stopped Loving Her Today" complete the top five, emphasizing the emotional depth and narrative strength that characterize the genre's best works

The list also includes notable entries from modern country artists. Taylor Swift's "Mean" takes the highest spot for a 21st-century song at number 20. Other contemporary artists such as Luke Combs, Zach Bryan, and Kacey Musgraves also make appearances, highlighting the evolution and ongoing vitality of country music

Some entries have stirred controversy, such as Beyoncé's "Texas Hold 'Em" at number 192, and Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road" remix at 138. These inclusions reflect the genre's expanding boundaries and the debates around what constitutes "true" country music
